General introduction

As the specialized group entrusted with laying the theoretical foundation for the Architecture field, the Theory & History of Architecture specialized group carries out training and research tasks:

+ Training in the fundamental fields of architecture, skills in rendering & drawing representation, basics of artistic modeling, architectural composition theory, principles of architectural design, course projects, conceptual design projects, graduation projects.

+ Training in the fields of the history of Vietnamese and world architecture, urban history, art history…

+ Training and conducting in-depth research in the field of conservation, promotion of heritage, traditional architecture, culture, and tourism.

+ Theory and criticism of architecture.

+ Continuously innovating and developing, contributing to the training of high-quality design and research professionals, meeting the needs of the community and society in the context of the new era.

Achievements:

The Theory & History of Architecture Expert Group has won the National Architecture Award – Publication category – for two book series: "History of World Architecture" Volumes 1–2 (Second Prize 2006) and "History of Art" Volumes 1–2 (Council Prize 2008).

For many years, the unit has been recognized as an excellent task-completing unit and an advanced labor collective of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
