General introduction

The Environmental Architecture Professional Group is the Architectural Physics Department, renamed according to Decision No. 154/QĐ-TCCB dated February 17, 2014, by the Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. The Department of Architectural Physics was established in 1967, originally as the group of Architectural Physics and Ventilation within the Department of Architecture at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

In 1960-1961, Professor Nguyen Sanh Dan (the first principal of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering) researched and introduced the subject of Architectural Physics into the curriculum for the 3rd and 4th cohorts of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Civil Engineering department.

In 1966 - 1967, Prof. Pham Ngoc Dang (the 3rd Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering) successfully established the Architectural Physics Laboratory and compiled the first Architectural Physics curriculum in our country.

After 55 years of formation and development, the Environmental Architecture specialized group has always been a source of pride for Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, with significant academic achievements in the fields of building climate, thermal, lighting, and architectural and urban acoustics. Specializing in Sustainable Design and Green Buildings; developing expertise in Urban Ecology and Sustainable Cities, with the ability to respond to climate change; researching Building Acoustics, Auditorium Acoustics, and Interior and Exterior Lighting solutions for buildings and urban areas, are the professional development directions of the Environmental Architecture Group. In addition, the basic scientific expertise in building physics is still being maintained and further developed.

Teaching theory goes hand in hand with scientific research, practice, experimentation, and reality. The Environmental Architecture Professional Group always actively collaborates with organizations, research-training agencies, and domestic and international businesses with the aim of coordinating in systematic, interdisciplinary professional activities, meeting practical needs, and enhancing the quality of training and scientific research.
